An Alkaline Body is the Plan

I received a text yesterday asking about PH.

  • Q. What do you do when you check PH and it is below 7?
  • A. Add more greens to your diet.  Fruits and vegetables, raw food.  Veggies and raw food alkalize the body
  • Q. How do lemon and limes alkalize if they are citrus acids?
  • A. They create an alkaline ash in the body
  • Q. What is a good PH reading?
  • A. Green.  If the test strip is yellow you are acidic.  If it is green you are alkaline

So What Is The Plan?

The goal of my coaching, is to keep your body PH on the Alkaline side.  To do this a good rule of thumb is, to eat 75 – 80% alkaline foods and a ratio of 20 – 25% acid forming foods.  This balance should keep the body alkaline vs. acidic.

Balancing your body’s alkaline/acid chemistry can help in weight loss, increased stamina and strength, plus a stronger immune system.  Research shows it is difficult for disease to thrive if your body is in an alkaline state.  On the flip side, bad bacteria, yeast, fungi and disease thrive in an acidic body.

So Let’s Look At What To Eat

First up, Juice!  As you know from my facebook cleansing page, I juice two quarts of fresh juice each day.  One green juice and one vegetable or fruit juice.  The green juice comes from cancer survivor Kris Carr.  She wrote a book called, Crazy Sexy Diet.  Kris had stage 4 cancer and used this juice to help her naturally eliminate her cancer.  She drinks it everyday and now so do I.  Here are the ingredients in her green juice:

  • 2 large cucumbers (peeled if not organic)
  • 4 to 5 stalks kale
  • 4 to 5 romaine leaves

    Green juice

  • 4 stalks celery
  • 1 to 2 big broccoli stems
  • 1 to 2 pears
  • 1-inch piece (or smaller) ginger root

Juice all ingredients. Other optional greens: parsley or spinach.  Note:  I always include parsley.  It leaves your mouth feeling really clean.  I consider parsley a natural breath freshner.

I drink two quarts of juice per day as a meal replacement in the mornings.  Leafy green vegetables, like lettuce and kale found in this juice is high in chlorophyll, enzymes, vitamins, minerals and oxygen.  Your body requires oxygen to stay healthy.

Begin eating at lunch time and remember to load up on fruits and vegetables (alkaline) and limit the amount of acid forming foods.

Alkaline forming foods

  • most raw vegetables
  • raw fruits

    Raw Fruits

  • sundried olives
  • beans
  • avocados
  • sprouted whole grains
  • sprouted legumes
  • soaked or sprouted nuts
  • soaked or sprouted seeds
  • honey
  • herbal teas
  • wheatgrass and other sprouted grasses
  • sea vegetables
  • fresh coconut

What are acid forming foods?

All the foods you like!  Fried foods, sugary foods, white flour, and caffeine drinks, like coffee and soda.  I have a more detailed list in a previous blog post.

Check your progress as you take your body from acidic to alkaline, by taking your PH every morning.  You can buy PH tester strips in a Health food store or specialty food store.  Having an alkaline body is an excellent starting point when we do the Master Cleanse in January.
